What is the answer to this question?

When the water was freezing into a solid some air was trapped or dissolved inside the water. As the ice/solid liquefied this air/gas was released and as it passed through the layer of liquid encasing the ice it made the bubbles you saw. If you listen to ice you can hear it whistling and squeaking, this is also caused by the ice as it warms up.
